Lana began as Executive Director at Unique World Gifts in March 2013. Raised in Hickory, she has over 20 years of small business retail management experience, with a passion for merchandising and display. She holds an AAS in Photographic Technology, and puts her photography skills to use on a regular basis for marketing and advertising for UWG. Lana enjoys the challenges of managing a non-profit retail store and is constantly learning new skills necessary to keep UWG moving forward. As the only paid staff member for the organization her position has many roles including merchandise buyer, sales manager, marketing director, and volunteer coordinator. Although she enjoys all aspects of her job, she delights in helping customers select beautifully handcrafted fair trade products, and sharing the stories of the artisans. She also enjoys educating people who are not familiar with fair trade and discussing how purchasing fair trade products gives empowerment to marginalized people all over the world. When not working at Unique World Gifts, you'll find Lana teaching a yoga class, working out at the gym, or traveling to a National Park.
