About Us

Unique World Gifts is a 501(c)3 non profit organization established in 1992 by the Hickory Mennonite Church and local citizens.  Our mission is to support artisans and farmers in developing countries by creating an opportunity to earn a fair, sustainable income by bringing their products to our community. 

A visit to Unique World Gifts is truly a unique experience! From jewelry and accessories, to home and garden décor, to toys and foods, there is something for everyone to love!  Unique World Gifts partners with about twenty fair trade product distributors who have a direct relationship with over a hundred artisan groups and farmer co-ops in about forty developing countries.   Our staff of one consists of the Executive Director (store manager), so we rely on volunteer service from socially conscience individuals in our community. We have several dedicated volunteers who assist with daily store operations, as well as a volunteer Board of Directors. If you are interested in volunteering with Unique World Gifts, please see the "Volunteer" page under "Get involved."  Unique World Gifts relies in part on donations from individuals, church and civic organizations to fulfill its mission, and currently receives annual mission outreach donations from St Aloysius Catholic Church.
